Testosterone Study
« on: October 19, 2011, 12:52:55 PM »
There's a testosterone study that I'm pre-qualified for that will guarantee study of my testosterone levels and give me either the testing oral form or the proven topical gel form.  The side effects seem minimal.  I'm going to call them back and let them know I'm willing to do it.  Let's see how this affects my POIS.

That's cool. Keep us up to date!!
WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Will do.  I tried to call them today to get on board, but I think they were closed early. :(

So I went in for the initial study medical checkup and they did one of the most comprehensive medical histories anyone has ever done.  They drew blood to send off to the lab to verify my testosterone levels.  I made sure I was in POIS so the levels would be when I'm in POIS.

And they called me today with the results--503, which is NORMAL!  (based on a 300-800 range)  I don't get it.  Either my body requires much more testosterone to feel normal, or high levels are actually what are causing me problems.  But that wouldn't explain why fish oils, zinc, and fenugreek help me recover.  I really don't get it.

I'll be getting a copy of the lab results in the mail in a few days.  I'm going to get my testosterone levels tested again somewhere when I'm 100% normal and see what they're at.  This is definitely strange.

You need to resist the temptation.  As Yoda would say, "control--you must learn control."

Personally I think fish oil and fenugreek reduces inflammation in the body and in the brain and this is why it helps reduce POIS symptoms. If this is the case testosterone levels wouldn't matter so much I don't think unless testosterone plays a role in inflammation.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

Samir, What day did you get tested post ejaculation? I find it fluctuates heavily, I've had test results ranging from 200-310 ng/dl, but my SHBG is very low.

It's a bit fuzzy now, but I think it was day 2 or 3 when I know I was in POIS.

I think the inflammation theory makes some sense here.  I need to re-test myself, but life has sped up 20x and I don't have time to breathe anymore. :(
