So far my ears, sinuses, lungs and skin have cleared up substantially and the duration of symptoms have gone down from six days to two. I'm going to do a large report in another 2-4 weeks to let everyone know my where I'm at. If anyone wants to know the supplements I'm taking they are GALT Fortifier, Ortho Biotic, Vitanox, and Gut Flora Complex
Great results, G-man, I am happy for you. I have taken a look at the composition of the supplements you are taking. I have found of particular interest the Vitanox formula, because its four antioxidant ingredients ( Green Tea, Grape Seed extract, Rosemary and Turmeric) are part of what I am taking myself to prevent and relieve my POIS symptoms. I have been using rosemary and green tea extract for years. Turmeric is a more recent addition, but a good one, and polyphenolic antioxidants like grape seed extract, pine bark extract/pycnogenol, blueberries, elderberries, and the like, are also very beneficial for me, and I have been using them quite often through the years. Since last year, I have been developing a more consistent approach in the supplementation I use for preventing and controlling my POIS symptoms, and those antioxidants, along with other supplements like magnesium, omega-3, 5-HTP, quercetine, milk thistle and some others, helped me reach a very high level of success ( 90 to 100%).
As a bonus, green tea or green tea extract helps enhance the effect of 5-HTP ( i think I remember you had some success with 5-HTP, as I do too). Green tea act as a dopa-decarboxylase inhibitor, so 5-HTP is not transformed in peripheral circulation before reaching the brain. Taking green tea extract at the same time as 5-HTP enhances its effect by allowing more 5-HTP to reach the brain circulation, and that is where it is needed in order to help relieving emotional and psychological symptoms ( by being transformed in serotonin).
A healthy gut is essential for a balanced immunity. I truly believe there is at least a part of POIS which is related to an immune imbalance ( too much pro-inflammatory messengers production, leading to a cascade of unwanted physiologic events). Therefore, as science now shows that a large part of the immune activity occurs in the guts, it is essential, in any so called auto-immune disorders, to restore a healthy intestinal flora and optimal digestive tract functionality. I sure do take probiotics, and have been eliminating all food that I suspected to cause inflammation in my guts ( for some, it was quite obvious, like cow milk - 20 mins after taking a glass of milk, my sinuses and throat were plugged up with a thick mucus). As I have adjusted my diet, my health has improved in general, and I have seen the same as you - my POIS symptoms have reduced both in length and severity.
