Good jobs for POIS people
« on: November 14, 2013, 10:39:08 PM »
I have pretty serious POIS.  People think I'm drunk it's so bad.  However, I can't stop orgasming. It's millions of years of evolution. So I'm wondering if anyone has any good job ideas or has worked any good jobs with POIS?

I was thinking truck driver?

Also I was thinking software developer but I''m in that curriculum right now and it seems way more social than you would think with meetings and other stuff.

I want a job where I can just be weird and have POIS all the time preferably that pays well.

Face your fears and do whatever job you want to do. Don?t let POIS decide your life for you.

Look, people here have made a huge stink over the possible unsafe character of desensitization. I can't really speak to how safe it or any of the other effective treatments for POIS (i.e. TRT) are -- none of us can -- but I can say that desens is hugely effective. I decided to continue undergoing desens despite (completely unverified and substantiated) whispers about its potential negative health impacts because I know for a fact that it works, and I simply wasn't willing to allow POIS to dictate what I was capable of.

Only you can decide whether venturing into an unknown and somewhat experimental realm of science is for you. But, if you're willing to take the risks, there are a number of treatments which our members have found to be effective (TRT, desens, removal of the testes, etc.). You might consider them before resigning yourself to life as a truck driver.
POIS since I was about 15. 1.75 years of desens and I'm now about 80% POIS free. Still working through best practices for maintaining my immunity and administering my injections with my doctor. Email me if you have tips or questions!

EGordon,

I could say that niacin or viagra is "hugely effective". I can say  I know for a fact that it works, but we all know that this is not true for everybody.

You are talking about YOUR experience, and it is NOT supported by everyone who tries it.

Niacin and Viagra have their known safety precautions, and can be undertaken safely with proper medical vigilance.

No one knows if desens is safe. The chance that it can create an autoimmune condition that didn't exist before hand is a potentially dangerous and irreversible risk.

IT IS NOT A WHISPER. You say I can't prove it. But Your doctor can't prove that it's safe either.

The desens treatment is slow, and its potential side effects can also take many years. So when your hair is falling out or bones are brittle or mind is doing loop-di-loops in 15 years, there will be nothing you can do.

I know what the potential down side of niacin or viagra is. They have both been clinically tested for human consumption.

Desens HAS NOT, it is FAR FROM IT.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

You're absolutely right in saying that niacin or viagra have not worked for absolutely everyone. This is true with regard to their use in treating POIS symptoms, as well as their use in treating the symptoms of the disorders that they were created to relieve. Medicines / treatments are rarely, if ever, effective for everyone; this is why when you go to the doctor there's often a panoply of drugs that they can prescribe you for a given disorder. The specifics of your body and conditions determine how effective (and how safe) a given drug will be for you.

So while i'm aware that desens (supposedly) does not work for everyone, i hardly see this as evidence that it isn't effective. The desensitization process has a range of effectiveness even when used for traditional applications (i.e. allergy shots); some people just don't respond. This doesn't lead people to say things like "allergy shots don't work."

IT IS NOT A WHISPER. You say I can't prove it. But Your doctor can't prove that it's safe either.

You're correct that my doctors have not yet proven that desens is completely safe ( -- although, it should be mentioned, nor have they attempted to). But i'm in the position of being treated by trained immunologists using their independent judgement  and working off of peer-reviewed literature published in a respected medical journal. This is where my information comes from. Surely you understand that this is different than being advised by a pair of aggrieved Egyptian scientists who've been unable to publish anything on the subject?

Medical knowledge and training should be given greater weight than uncorroborated suspicions -- even when that knowledge is incapable of certainty (as all knowledge is).

Sorry, last thing. Where is your information coming from? Desens is NOT a slow process in the States. I've been receiving treatment for a little less than 1.5 years and only have a few months remaining. And how do you know that potential side effects can take many years to emerge? If this source actually exists, i'm sure everyone receiving desensitization would be interested in reading it.

A normal peer review would normally not let past a research program that did not include control groups. I really had to scratch my head at that. And so have other trained immunologists. There is no control to say that his method for determining whether one is allergic to his own semen is valid. He does not show that nonPOISers would not also react.

As it is, not even all POISers react positively to the skin-prick test.

Its a crucial point!

That's fine, if you want to chance it, go ahead.

I want our people here to know, that there are too many very important unanswered questions that could be harmful (maybe even irreversibly) in the long run.

If they want to believe otherwise, nobody can stop them.

Good job for POIS people? wendy's....

just kidding, haha. No seriously, just like Lycos said earlier, POISers should do whatever they like and are comfortable with! In fact, most POISers actually seem extremely intelligent to me, at least compared to some of the people I know IRL (in real life), lol.

Also, keep reminding yourself that a potential cure is within sight with the upcoming research. Good luck!

Egordon

Are you receiving your desensitization treatments via injection or sub-lingual?

Do you receive your treatments at your physician's office?

Who is your physician? Would he/she be willing to share this clinical knowledge and experience with others' physicians, since it's been so successful for you?

Darkness,

On your original question on this post, about careers to choose, that pay well, in avoiding your POIS, I would also be encouraging you to stretch yourself a bit, and not limit yourself. Otherwise, you may never realise your own potential. Find a balance that doesn't stress you out all the time, one that you are interested in learning more about, and where you might be enthusiastic.

Am sure you have access to job lists, but just in case you don't, here's one The site http://www.prospects.ac.uk/types_of_jobs.htm that I have used before that might help your choices. You will find loads more, and there many online assessments like http://www.assessment.com/ that allow you to see what jobs you are suited to behaviourally and based on your motivations

As someone else on the forum said, try not to let POIS define who you are.  Good luck !

i know exactly what you mean. I dont know why these ppl are veering elsewhere with the discussion. you want a job with limited human interactions, where a post-pois brain isnt going to be dysfunctioned so much you cant do your job. so what i would suggest is a line job at a factory. its going to be something repetitive, but no matter how POISed you are, you should always be able to do your job well. Seek out employment agencies in your area and ask tell them you want to work in a factory or do line work in a warehouse. anyways thats my suggestion =)

Well said, Prancer!!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

devastated

The only appropriate job would be bed tester. Everything else is a liability.  :P

I know for you guys, like for me, there are a few skills that have a very minimal impact from POIS.  Any job that can use skills is an occupation that would be worth pursuing, especially if it pays well or is a narrow field where demand is higher than supply for good people. 8)
