Hi Sameer,

My primary advice to you would be to see a doctor. I personally have been using Celebrex to do away with my symptoms, but it's not the most potent or effective (or potentially even safe) NSAID, so if you've some opportunity you should be seeing a doctor and asking for their advice regarding how to use this drug. Besides, you may have other factors or be taking other drugs which could make taking higher doses of an NSAID unsafe. Please see a doctor before experimenting with prescriptions.

Having said that, in my experience, the dose of Celebrex that you are taking is too low to have the desired effect. It's slightly lower than the dose that I take now (150 mg / once, day), and i've been undergoing a year of immunotherapy which has sharply reduced the severity of my body's immune response. When I first started taking the drug, I needed 2 doses of 200mg, each separated by 8-12 hours (for safety), in order to obtain relief. When you see a doctor, which you should do, you should ask them about the possibility of such a dose.

Also, I don't think this drug should be taken more than every other day, generally. It makes me feel weird. That's also something you should discuss with a medical professional

Yes, that's the problem with NSAIDs for POIS. They are not meant to be long term treatments, but as relief for POIS we'd have to be taking them fairly regularly.

They are hard on the stomach and liver, and can upset blood pressure, as a minimum.

EGordon's advice os good. Go see a doctor, and maybe he can connect you up to one that is appropriate and more finely tuned to POIS giving more potency more safely.

One important point : celebrex is a cox-2 inhibitor only and then more specific than ibuprofen.

I am new to the forum, having recently discovered I wasn't the only one on the planet with this condition.

Having had POIS for many years unresolved, I recently tried (based on information here), Niacin and fenugreek for the last week, without any change so far.

I will persist for a while. In the past, when the headaches aspect of POIS were very severe for me, I became addicted to an over the counter drug here called Solpadeine, which has codeine in it. I found it took away the pain quite well, but with improper warnings about side effects and addicition at the time, it took me a long time to get off it.

As you say all drugs have side effects, so in the research, I guess it'd be ideal in getting to the root of this problem without a treatment with the potential for liver and heart damaging side effects. Having said that,  right now quality of life would mean more to me than quantity, after close on 40 years dealing with POIS.

PS. For donating something to the cause, can someone advise what shows up on my credit card statement?

If you donate to the POIS research grant fund at NORD via the online donation page, your credit card will reflect "National Organization for Rare Disorders."  It won't say "research" or "POIS fund"...or anything of a more specific nature.

Your donation would go toward a grant for next year, just FYI, as this year's grant is already in progress.

You'd also receive an automated email reply a few minutes after your donation goes through that would say that NORD will send you a "thank you letter" for "the gift."  But we won't send a letter (because of the private nature of POIS) and it's not a "gift."  We'd know it's a donation to the POIS fund-- because you'll have noted it with your donation. I'd send you an acknowledgment email.

[Going less Crazy]

I decided to try Aleve, or naproxin sodium, because of the good results that some people seem to be having with it.  I took it because I was having a headache the following day after orgasm.  Althout OLE seems to alleviate the worst of the POIS, I sometimes do have a lingering headache.  I have to say that during the duration the medication (Aleve) is in my body I feel "ok", but as I come off of the medication I feel terrible, way worse off than I was.  My eyes turn bloodshot, feel hot all over and like something is attacking my brain from the inside. It's as if it's some withdrawal affect and now I can feel everything that is happening in my body.  Almost like my immune system goes into overdrive after being "deadened" for a while by the NSAID.  For now I think I will stick to olive leaf extract, in which I have no withdrawal from.

I believe having this type of reaction proves that my POIS is generally something wrong with my immune system.  Feeling hot and being red all over, a bit itchy...  Definitely sounds like an allergy.  God I wish I knew what exactly it was from.  My belief is that it is something released from the endocrine system after sex causing all of this havoc.

Hi all. I tried 200 mg of celebrex and 0,25 of energetic drink (adrenalin rush) 1 hour before o. And it worked for me great!) I have 0 symptoms

How much caffeine was in the energy drink? I wonder if it's the vasoconstricting effect of caffeine that is opposing the vasodilating effect of histamine.
