im not crazy
« on: April 19, 2014, 05:42:11 PM »
Hello All,

I am suffering from POIS since early childhood.

It is only after googling my symptoms that I have stumbled upon this forum (thank god)

I had been suffering from a myriad of fatigue symptoms for as long as I could remember
Social anxiety, nervousness, confusion, brain fogg, fatigue, paranoia are some of the things I experienced as a teenager.

Being raised without a father did not really help my situation, as I was busy internalizing every side effect and rationalizing it as being part of my punishment for being 'sinful' masterbator.

I may fit the category of someone with psychological induced symptoms but it is so strange that I suffer from all the individual symptoms listed here.
There has to be a link between everyone's experiences

Am glad to have discovered a group of people whom I can share my pains with, and who might understand it themselves.

Feel like I am losing my mind, there is nothing that I have tried that seems to be dealing with my symptoms.
The only way I can regain composure post orgasm, is if i become extremely temperamental.

Being angry/furious the whole day does somehow seem to keep the mind awake better, but this is very bad way to treat family and friends.
Hope to find a better sollution for our illness in the near future and we can all enjoy a normal energetic life.

I can totally relate to what you're saying. Sometimes it's easier to be angry about the situation... and wallow in that whole "God DAMNIT this SUCKS" mode for a while. I believe that it's natural to oscillate between happiness and unhappiness, peace and frustration, etc. POIS is a fucking devastating disease. I don't blame anyone for getting a little ancy once in a while, especially when there is so little understanding coming from other people.

But obviously, it takes a toll on your relationship with your family... I know my relationship with my parents is strained for sure! It sucks... I SO wish I could just be a happy, well-adjusted, grounded man again, and spread good vibes with everyone I meet. Alas, it is nearly impossible for us to maintain that composure... social anxiety, brain fog, irritability, and depression take hold, and there is nothing we can do about it other than "wait it out!"

Anyway... Welcome to the forums, sleepy!

I wouldn't worry too much about the psychological guilt being the cause. I'm sure there are LOADS of people have that psychological religious guilt, but NO physical symptoms of POIS. Just like there are many of us who have NO guilt, but plenty of physical symptoms.

Try to stay focused, and keep searching for things to help you get through the day. Here are some of my personal remedies:

1) Abstinence
can't really beat that one! If you can discipline yourself to abstain, you can pretty much avoid most of the ill effects of POIS.

2) A clean diet
almost every one of us POISers has digestion issues... and some speculate that there is a connection. Eat whatever works for YOU... be it Paleo, no Gluten, no Dairy, Raw Vegan etc..

3) Daily exercise
just get outside in the sun and the fresh air, and work up a sweat! I find this gives me an energy boost for the day, and extra mental clarity.

There are plenty more tips and tricks people have found to work for them, but it's best to just scroll through people's personal threads!

Affected since Sept 2008. Very gradual onset of symptoms: Testicular atrophy, low libido, brain fog, lethargy, depression, digestion issues. Worsening of all symptoms the 3-4 days post orgasm.

I would recommend reading all of the medical papers on POIS which can be requested to the forum admin (Daveman or Demogrfx) if you have have not got them already.

Hello Sleepy!

Welcome to POIS forum

I (and everyone else here) understand the pain you are going though. I hope science find a solution to our suffering.

There are a few successful tried treatments that may help relief your symptoms, Check the other sections!
Don't give up hope if you find a treatment that works for someone and doesn't work for you. POISers seem to respond differently to treatments.

I agree with LegatoMan's three mentioned points except for the Vegan diet. staying away from animal protein makes me feel worse.
Try to stay away from stress and drink green tea. They should make you better.

All the best,
mmeha

hello again

thank you all for the welcoming messages.

I am also pro-active in trying to find a solution for this illness.

So far I can only say that eating lots of raw carrots has helped provide some clarity during the day.
I will search through the topics here and hopefully find something that will help manage the effects more effectively.

Cheers
