Saw Palmetto Member Trials Outline

Cornelius: "Fenugreek and Saw Palmetto had noticeable effects during a month on/ month off trial. In particular, my girlfriend could always tell when I'd forgotten to take my daily Fenugreek from my ability to focus, and the month where I ran out of Saw Palmetto without noticing (while waiting for a new shipment), more or less everything that I'd been managing to hold together fell apart."

joyrex: "I decided to try saw palmetto extract that was mentioned in this thread. I've now been taking it 320 mgs per day for a month and I'm continuing with the same dose. Initially I had a side effect of some kind of skin changes in my hands; the skin would get dry and cut very easily (small slightly bleeding wounds would appear). This lasted for about few weeks and has gone since.
My POIS symptoms have been progressively diminished and my mood and feeling of being in health have gotten better. There is nothing else I've changed with my lifestyle apart from this supplement.
There has been plenty of talk about hormones on this topic which I haven't been following. But I think it is interesting that saw palmetto is supposed to inhibit the forming of DHT, dihydrotestosterone. I wonder, could this have something to do with POIS? At least on my part, it seems that saw palmetto reduces the POIS symptoms significantly."

apostate801: "Whoever mentioned saw palmetto helping their symptoms, thanks!  Been taking it for a month and having sex about once a week, noticed a decrease in symptoms.  It's still there but definitely more tolerable and not as long lasting?  I want to test more sex but too scared.  Full on POIS is brutal."

Animus: "I am also taking Saw Palmetto, and have been for about a year now. It's one of the few medicines that I've found to help a lot and I'm very happy with it. Its helped me with reducing POIS symptoms, and also helping with symptoms for BPH-(enlarged prostate) such as frequent urination. I liked that it is natural and available without prescription. There is a good Wikipedia article on it. I didn't have any negative side effects with it- tolerated it well."

Vincent M: Saw Palmetto has been a reliable treatment to decrease all my pois symptoms for over a year. I take 540mg - 1080mg about 15 minutes before an orgasm and always notice the effect almost immediately. It helps the most with decreasing inflammation in my urethra and rectum caused by pois.

Contributor: "One supplement that I tried and worked some was Saw Palmetto tablets. It seemed to decrease symptoms. It also made me less anxious."

Dear Vincent M,I'm new here.I want to ask you that do you still take saw pallmetto at high doses?Do you have any side effects when you stop taking it?

I continue to take 540mg of saw palmetto every day with no perceptible negative side effects. Some days I take twice or 3 times that dose. The reduction in POIS symptoms is still noticeable each time I take it.

In the ingredients section my bottle says "Saw Palmetto Whole Berry - 540mg". Perhaps you were taking some sort of concentrated extract? I did a google search and it seems that one person who reported side effects from this herb was taking a liquid form of it, which is curious to me. The brand I use is Swanson.
