What is your current age and occupation/work/studies?
« on: February 28, 2017, 11:00:12 AM »
What is your age and current occupation, and how does pois affect said occupation?

Please be specific e.g. "I'm 21 and studing civil engineering, am in my third year, pois is bad ill likely fail this year", or "I'm 45, a data capturer, working for same company for 8 years, boss knows about my pois, says its fine", or "I'm 29, unemployed, dropped out of college 3 years ago, severe pois living from day to day", etc.

Ill go first.

I am 28, was studying chemical engineering for most of my life (2007-2013), been on leave of absence from university since end of 2013 due to depression, pois, and sister's death. Pois is moderate to severe with duration 1-2 weeks incl brain fog, social anxiety, aggression, muscle pain, fatigue. Havent been out of pois in months, due to sex with gf/masturbation every week.

Currently deciding on what to do with my life this year, but have no confidence in my ability to work, hence the topic.

I am 20years old and study IT. At this point I honestly do not give a fuck anymore, everytime I ask myself "what if..." just gets boring after awhile.

The only reason I keep visiting this forum is that maybe one day there will be a cure that completely wipes off this bullshit. Otherwise I don't try to bother myself with this illness anymore, wasted way too much of my youth to find a good solution.

Gym, 420, sex all day long. Ez 👌

I'm 19 years old, studying biomed and trying to work with companies developing VNS devices this summer.  As far as I see it, VNS is the only promising treatment and hopefully the closest thing to a cure we will probably have for a while.  I don't see time spent learning about POIS as a waste of time, and encourage you guys not to think of it this way for a few reasons.

First off, we have to live with this the rest of our lives with a very blurry prognosis, the inflammation and other secondary effects of POIS are like a frag grenade going off in our bodies which could cause any number of things so learning to treat it is important.

Second, the reason POIS is so mysterious is because the medical world don't understand enough about the immune system, and this is the reason I'm studying biomed.  I've already read thousands of POIS center posts and medical articles about anything I could find related to POIS, and to me it seems as if POIS is just part of an epidemic of rising autoimmune diseases.

Since your still in college, I would suggest you use what you've learned about POIS to study these diseases or VNS devices.  I think both are going to be very important during our lives, and if not then what I will learn about POIS definitely will be.  I urge you and others to consider this because I think all of us are a little above average intelligence due to us having higher levels of histamine.
"In fact, in the brain, histamine has been suggested to be a regulator of ?whole brain? activity."
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK28245/

Although high levels of histamine are not necessarily a good thing, they can be a blessing and a curse.  This website does a really good job of explaining it, specifically read the "High Histamine: A Formula For Success and Tragedy" section.

I am 31 and working in IT Consulting, have a severe form of POIS which I am somehow managing from not affecting my career thus far. From blood tests I have very low testosterone and possible Vit D deficiency.

My main symptoms are extreme fatigue, back pain & general body pain, very dry skin especially in face and scalp, hairloss (almostly fully bald now norwood 6), depression (heavy on day 1 & 2), difficulty concentrating, social anxiety, etc.

None of the common treatments like Niacin, Fenugreek, etc worked for me. I have been taking moderately high Vitamin D for the last 3 months which seems to have helped somewhat in reducing the duration and severity of my symptoms.
33 years old, POIS for around 12 years with increasing severity.
Major symptoms - Severe fatigue, back pain, unrefreshed even after 9+ hours sleep, pain behind eyes, very dry face, bald head with inflamed scalp, digestion issues and constipation. Very low testosterone and high glucose in blood tests
