What is your experience using SSRI's (etc) and POIS?

I know what an SSRI's, SNRI's and MAOI's are and never used an SSRI before POIS developed.
Using SSRI's, SNRI's and MAOI's after POIS developed and get a benefit.
Using SSRI's, SNRI's and MAOI's after POIS developed and get NO benefit.

I have POIS but dont know what an SSRI's, SNRI's and MAOI's are, or what they are normally used for.

Author Topic: SSRI's, SNRI's and MAOI's can assist with POIS. But do they also lead to POIS?  (Read 2560 times)

SSRI's, SNRI's and MAOI's are reported to assist with POIS. But there is emerging anecdotal evidence that they also exacerbate the problems they are (normally) used to treat. Could this also be true when treating POIS with these drugs?

SSRI's majorly interfere with male sexual function and the ones most likely to cause sexual side effects are:
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which include citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil, Paxil CR, Pexeva) and sertraline (Zoloft).
Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), which include venlafaxine (Effexor XR), desvenlafaxine (Pristiq, Khedezla) and duloxetine (Cymbalta).
Tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline, nortriptyline (Pamelor) and clomipramine (Anafranil).
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil) and tranylcypromine (Parnate).

bunyip, welcome to the forum
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
