timing niacin / alleve / antihistamines
« on: June 09, 2019, 09:57:53 PM »
Hi,

I am a long time lurker here.

I have been suffering from POIS for at least 6 years. I took careful notes for a while about my symptoms and it's been quite consistent. After any orgasm I get brain fog starting in about a half hour and it last about a day. it usually is down to a tolerable level after the 2nd night of sleep.

I have been to a neurologist, but he wasn't helpful at all!

I have found 600mg alleve helps, but I have to take it ahead of time. Niacin also helps, but again it has to be taken ahead of time for the full effect.

The problem is I don't have so great self control. I often take niacin and/or alleve 15 minute before which isn't enough time for it to really get into the system. The particular brand i have is 100mg and it takes about 45 minutes or an hour before I feel the flush.

I am posting about this partly to get some accountability from people online to kick me in the ass and get me to be more diligent. I need to be able to schedule taking the medication before "the act" (usually "MO") better.

As a side note, I've also experimented with curcumin which is supposed to reduce inflammation, but haven't noticed any major effects from it overall.

Welcome to the forum, cyberguy137.

Yes, you're right. You should take niacin and continue with your life as if nothing happens, and then have the O. Alternatively, you can try having a second O after the first one, and when you have passed the peak of the flush.

Yeah... I know I sorta rambled in my post and answered my own question =)

This idea of orgasming a 2nd time really puzzles me. This is a complex illness, and I can't help but thinking that some of it is pscyhosomatic for many of us.

All I can say is everytime I've ejaculated twice in a short period of time, my symptoms have doubled in intensity and increased in duration as well.
