Forced sleep
« on: January 08, 2019, 03:38:59 PM »
Forced sleep (e.g., just now, 10:40am till 11:30am - - even after a good night’s sleep) helps my POIS recovery *enormously*!

Trouble is, I use 50mg Benadryl to accomplish that. Some professionals - - including Harvard Medical School - - believe this can possibly contribute to dementia:

Can anyone recommend a safer route?

Thank you!

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Magnesium is known to aid sleep as it forms GABA to help the mind relax. Also l-glutamine is the precursor to GABA so that might help too (I take l-glutamine).  l-glutamine is also the most abundant amino acid in the body... These supplements are natural and the body relies on them so they are probably safer than benadryl (but I'm no Dr.)

To be honest, the main factor for me is the temperature. We know that the boundaries for optimum comfort are set between 20ºC-25ºC, so you should consider turning off a little bit the radiators or even use less blankets if you are having difficulties right now. I have been having problems with this issue lately.

It's the 10th factor in the following list:

Keep an eye on this symptom. It could worsen over time especially during summer. This range of optimal temperature can become smaller and smaller until there is almost no margin left. When this happened to me, my body had a hard time regulating heat flow and could not counter temperature changes fast enough (abnormal slow endothelial response?).

Tried 300mg magnesium last night! Didn’t realize my wife was taking it, so...handy supply!

It didn't work well? It could take a few nights/days as your body readjusts to new changes. There are several magnesium supplement types and it's said that magnesium gluconate is among the best absorbed by the body.

Limejuice, thanks. I think I just need to go back to sleeping naturally.
