Hi there,

So my POIS is relatively under control. The main issue for me is the terrible mood swings and getting angry with people and impatient about nothing... I can ruin a relationship in a day.

Vitamin B's, C, D, E, magnesium, curcumin and fish oil before o and I take Quercetin and another curcumin together after o with zinc and more fish oil - this removes my anxiety and almost all brain fog, although I still stumble in confusion quite often on day 1, and my body and mind is very weak.

My POIS used to be a full 2 days of horror,so significant improvement. But these mood swings.... anything I can take for it?

Any help hugely appreciated.

Hi Michael,

Mood swings and irritability were trademarks symptoms of my POIS.    In my case, magnesium and fish oil ( up to 1000mg of EPA per 24 hours) are very good for mood swings, along with L-theanine.  Also, avoidance of anything stimulating, like sugar, caffeine or else, is mandatory, for me to keep my wild horses under control.

But the best for me, for evenness of mood, is my daily meditation practice/breathing exercises, which can be done on an as needed basis, but is much more powerful after a few months of daily practice, even if only 5 mins a day.  Meditation does not have to be complicated.  Just sitting, relaxed, eye closed, and breathing slowly, and observe breathing.  And bringing back attention to breath, whenever one becomes aware that he has not just observed silently a train of passing thoughts, but have jumped on it and have followed it.  When you get the hang of it, you observe passing thoughts like when you are in a subway station - trains pass by, but you stay there, quiet and still, on the platform, and let them come and go.

For a more advanced practice, and if you feel inclined too, cultivating a spirit of kindness and compassion, and gratitude, definitively help, when it becomes deep rooted in your personality out of POIS.  Then, when POIS comes, and with practice and mindfullness, along with meditation, you recenter yourself in kindness and compassion, which are absolute opposite to irritability and mood swings.   But this takes time and not something at which we can succeed overnight.   But it is quite possible, in particular if this advanced practice is based on a solid, daily meditation practice. This could be viewed as your inner spirit progressively taking the lead, and slowly prevailing over your dysfunctional body/brain when in POIS.

Thanks Quantum. I remembed your symptoms well and mood swings being one of the main ones. Your prepack seems to stop it completely. I get the sense that my symptoms were much worse than yours prior to our prepack days. I could barely leave the house - anxiety was that bad in POIS. Love your idea and description of mindfulness. I meditate and practice presence all the time so we definitely speak the same language in that way. It is extremely helpful for POIS and anxiety in general.

I take heaps of fish oil, probably near 2000 mg of EPA daily. I don't eat fish so I up it a bit. Haven't had negative side effects after a few months. I also take magnesium with my prepack every 4-5 days before 'o' but do you think it is helpful to take regularly?

One question I thought could be nice to pick your brain with is this. So my prepack routine is to take B1, 3, 6, 12, C, E, Magnesium and D, fish oil, curcumin - I fast for 3 hours, take all 11 pills with water on the empty stomach, then 'o' an hour and 20 minutes after. Haha. Very precise and programmed schedule. Every 4 or 5 days, depending on the urge. The idea is obviously to avoid NE's, otherwise I'd delay much longer. This seems to be a safe time frame.

I only chose this way because people in this forum used to recommend this with the B3, but I don't even know if the B3 is the one which is helping me - it could be the other b's.

I just wonder if taking them shortly after food or with food, could be more effective. I am too damn scared to take this risk, haha. If only there was a way to test without testing. :)
