Semen Loss Via Straining on the Loo = POIS or not POIS?
« on: January 28, 2017, 11:23:34 PM »
So, this is just a query to see if anyone else has had this issue. Warning, sorry in advance if this is a little gross...

I have bad POIS, all the usual symptoms. I also get a bit of constipation generally (unrelated issue I think). Sometimes when I go, I strain. And sometimes when I strain, I experience loss of seminal fluid, not much but its definitely noticeable. Now this can be 'normal' due to pressure on the prostate. However given my POIS I then go into a bit of a psychological meltdown over losing semen. I am currently testing this theory because this case example is quite interesting. Does POIS occur only after orgasm? Or does it occur whenever there is any loss or exposure or change to semen levels?
Currently, I am tending to think that I don't get anywhere the near the kind of devastating, being ill for days reaction to the straining thing. But that my eyes do feel a bit dry and achey which is a classic sign of my POIS coming on and I feel a bit less clear-headed and I felt really good before I went, however the symptoms are not as obvious. I will update tomorrow or next few day. So a minor version of POIS?

I am going to make a concerted effort now on not to strain when I go because, semen loss may cause minor POIS and we all know how debilitating it is but I will try to update on this if its desired. Also relatably... Could the severity of POIS and the variation in attacks be due to different semen loss amounts? One time when I was having wet dreams every night, the POIS actually started to lessen (possibly) because I was releasing less and less.

Matt.

I believe for me at least that POIS is caused by semen coming out the penis. Can be without orgasm. Actually I know I can trigger POIS just through taking Mytelase in the morning and have no sexual thoughts at all. So I never take it in the morning now.

Hi Matt, and welcome !  You are the 500th registered member on the forum :-)

Yes, it has been mentioned on the forum that passing a large stool, which press on the prostate and can make prostatic fluid be forced in the urethra, can cause POIS symptoms, but milder than full blast POIS attack.

You can see some info on that at http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=1558.msg14607#msg14607.

This tend to prove that, at least for a certain type of POIS, that it is not orgasm that triggers POIS, but the passing of prostatic fluid or seminal fluid in the urethra.

Some members have also reported POIS symptoms from pre-cum fluid, or even from being sexually aroused by viewing a sexy woman on the street.

However, Dr Waldinger came up with the "Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome" name, and I think it is better to stick with it, there is already much confusion and so little attention to our rare syndrome, that it wouldn't be a good idea to makes things more complicated still.

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Yes, that's happened to me maybe 10 times in my life, and it did give me POIS symptoms.

As Quantum suggested, it was prostrate gland fluid rather than semen, at least in my case.

Matt.

When I had nocturnal emission I had the symptoms of POIS but to a lesser degree.
