Yet another P.O.I.S. sufferer
« on: August 22, 2017, 07:16:00 AM »
Hi guys, first time posting here. Discovered this forum two years ago, and finally decided to post something. Suffering from P.O.I.S. atm so I will keep it short.

P.O.I.S. started for me during my late teens, when I discovered porn and masturbated a lot. The porn addiction is another battle I'm still fighting but the two go hand in hand perfectly. It's a very difficult destructive cycle to get out off. But I'm still trying and still have a little hope that it's possible.

P.O.I.S. for me is fever like symptoms: tired, non social, stuttering, slow movements, anxiety, sensitive to light and loud noises and the desire to stay away from other people.

When I'm not suffering from P.O.I.S. I'm the complete opposite: social, talkative, positive, outgoing etc. It's so weird. It's difficult to explain it to someone who doesn't suffer from it, so that's why I'm glad forums like this one exist.

I tried a lot of stuff to battle P.O.I.S.. So far the only thing that works a tiny bit is niacin, but it only works sometimes and only with certain brands. I hope research will find a cure for this one day. It's a life destroying illness.

Btw my username stands for Me vs P (porn)

Anyways that's it for now. I'll post more in the future.

Hi Mevsp, and thanks for your decision to contribute to the forum discussions.  We are stronger together, and others benefit from reading what other POIS sufferers feel, how they manage hteir POIS, what they think, so we see we are not alone, and we share the same kind of problems, be it with work/school, relationship, family, and so on.

I hear you about this personality change.  POIS does that to me too, a kind of "Dr Jekyll and Mister Hyde" transformation.  It is quite hard to explain to others, and it is not our best interest to share about our intimacy and sexuality, so we can only use vague and general explanations and protect ourselves.  The only persons knowing the real reason are my wife, and my now ten-years psychotherapist.

Looking forward for your future contributions, Mevsp !

It's a life destroying illness.

I wouldn't say life destroying.  It might seem like that at first but it gets better. Although it definitely is a big thorn in the thigh.  Many POISers here live very productive lives.  The trick is finding things that work for you... supplements, diet or whatever that make POIS bearable or nonexistent.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

supps: microdose zyrtec if needed for food sens. ibuprofen for infl. as needed. Melatonin as needed. Big Pinch Black cumin  seeds once daily

From my viewpoint as a 10-year moderator, it is life destroying for some. Judging from suicidal or 'drastic action' forum posts/conversations and the like. And even my own past (thankfully in the past) experience.

For other forum members...not so much life destroying.
