Grew up with friend with a VNS. Questions?
« on: February 05, 2016, 10:02:32 PM »
A lifelong friend of mine with severe epilepsy has had a VNS in place for over a decade. A wire runs up her neck, and when she feels an   aura for a siezure coming on, she takes one of her magnets and strokes the length of neck wire with it, stimulating the vagus nerve and helping stop an oncoming siezure.

This seems to be a common form of vagus nerve stimulation. Im a bit in  wonder that this so happens to be a.discussed and possible form of treatment. I swear sometimes i wonder if my life was predestined lol. Are there any questions people might want me to ask her about it?

Fascinating, Defsync.

Thank you!!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Life is funny sometimes, haha. One question I have is if your friend knows much about the availability of VNS devices the US. Is it possible to get them without a prescription? If so, how/where?? From what I can tell, availability seems somewhat limited in this country.
Experienced POIS since 2002.
My symptoms include: brain fog, depression, physical and mental fatigue, memory problems, social anxiety, concentration problems, myalgia, inflammation.

Defsync,

Really amazing that a VNS prevents your friend's seizures!

Her VNS stimulator is surgically implanted, correct?
