Silver Mercury Amalgam Fillings or Not?
« on: April 01, 2011, 07:43:10 PM »
I remember there was some past interest in whether mercury fillings could be related in some way to POIS, but the discussion seemed to be unorganized and intermittent so here is a new poll if anyone is still interested. There were a few of us who had no mercury fillings, but the majority of us seemed to have them. There were also at least 2 of us who had removed their mercury fillings, but continued to have POIS. Just answer if you have had mercury fillings or not.

I have 3 or 4 silver fillings that I believe are probably the mercury type that I got about 8 to ten years before my POIS symptoms began.

If anyone feels this to be a waste of time I completely understand and won't be offended if the mods wish to delete this.

No, not a waste of time. Sometimes though, the interpretation of the poll is harder than asking for it.

Let's see how it turns out.
WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

I have several filings but I think there is no link with Pois. Just my opinion. My porphyrins urinary test show normal values for mercury and heavy metals.
Taurine = Anti-Pois

I've read online that the problem with mercury tests is that some peoples' bodies naturally retain more mercury than others so a urine test will show results for low levels of mercury when they actually could have high levels. I'm not sure if this is true or not though, but it makes some sense to me considering that everyone's bodies are different. This phenomenon could also explain why some might be more affected by mercury fillings than others.

Here is a quote and link I just found that reiterates the theory that some people are more affected by mercury than others although they are talking about mercury poisoning from fish in this case:

"...most of us were born with a defense against exposure to mercury, initiated by specific sequences of genetic code that cause most people to expel the metal in 30 to 40 days. Not everyone carries this natural resistance, however. A small minority of people carry a genetic mutation that apparently causes their cells to retain mercury for far longer, in rare cases up to 190 days, greatly increasing the chance for cellular damage."

I have two fillings that I got when I was young, probably in the early 1980s.  Could these be Silver Mercury Amalgam Fillings?

From that long ago yeah they're almost def mercury fillings. Especially if they're silver in color.

I marked yes. :(  I need to start drinking green tea.  I've read somewhere it has a way to cleansing out mercury.
