I went raw vegan one year ago, because I realized that eating anything else gave me digestion problems (gas, diarrhea, fatty stools). Not because of ethics, and not because I was following some trend.

This is the only diet I can eat that stabilizes my digestion 100%. NOBODY can explain it. Doctors look at me wide-eyed in disbelief. But after years of trial and error, I can confidently state that it is the truth for MY body. Other bodies may be different!

My only explanation for it is that my body lacks the ability to digest and utilize protein or fat. I've never been able to gain weight, and especially these past 5 years, it's been even more difficult. I feel like any time I eat anything cooked, fatty, oily, or animal products in general, my body doesn't "use" it, and it simply goes right through me in the form of diarrhea/steatorrhea ("fatty" stools, indicating the dietary fat was never digested)

I've never believed there was any connection to POIS, until recently, when I read the Kurtosis explanation for POIS in another thread. So at the moment, I'm attempting to normalize my digestion through Betain HCl (pills to increase stomach acid) and Pancreatin (digestive enzymes from the pancreas). I'll keep you posted!

So kuba: only go raw vegan if it helps YOU. Try it out! There's nothing to lose.

Here's my typical daily regimen, if you're interested:

Breakfast: Fruit Salad with papaya, banana, pineapple, blueberries, and lime juice drizzled on
Snack: two mashed bananas with chia seeds, flax seeds, vegan protein powder, and raw brazil nut / chocolate spread
Lunch: Salad with spinach, tomato, cucumber, broccoli, avocado, walnuts, and drizzled lemon juice
Snack: nuts and dried berries
Evening Juice: I put 2 apples, 4 carrots, a quarter lemon, some ginger and some turmeric in a juicer and drink it!
Dinner Smoothie: I put mango, banana, avocado, strawberries, orange, spinach, almonds in a blender and drink it!

Affected since Sept 2008. Very gradual onset of symptoms: Testicular atrophy, low libido, brain fog, lethargy, depression, digestion issues. Worsening of all symptoms the 3-4 days post orgasm.

No, it hasn't affected my POIS symptoms directly.
