Title: Starting to think maybe I have Low Testosterone
Post by: haidcat on December 17, 2012, 12:31:56 PM
When I was younger, I had low testosterone, around 10-11 years old. I had to go to the doctor periodically toget T shots because my testicles just would not drop. With the T-shots the testicles eventually dropped, and no further treatment was required. In the past two years, I got 2 Total testosterone blood tests several months apart and each one was 410 in a range of 250-1000.

I was just wondering, do you guys think that at age 23-24,  410 total T is on the low side. I am thinking about getting another blood test to check my Free T, to see if maybe Low T could be a major causal factor in my POIS.

Haidcat,

I think your testosterone levels are on the low side.  Have you been evaluated by an endocrinologist (or possibly a geneticist) to find out why the level stays so low?

Unfortunately both docs told me I was in range so there was nothing they could do. One of them was a family doc and the other was an endocrinologist. I dot really know what to do from here because it seems I have the testosterone levels of an 80 year old.

if you are in america you  should look for doctors that are both mds and natutropath, they are definately the easiest to work with.
there is a directory for them if  google the directory you should find it. If you can find a sports doctor that might be helpful to.
I also went to urologist, and endcrinologist to no avail

I went to GP's, urologists and endocrinologists.

I got testosterone from all 3 even when my T scores were higher ("average")

How? I yelled and screamed after suffering POIS 30+ years!! "Gimme that extra testosteroone!" I have POIS - you guys DON'T know what you're doing! Here are some papers on the subject, one written by an endocrinologist! Read it!"

I was bluffing.

But it worked.

They made me go thru extra hoops (I had to buy TRT from one doctor, have it administered by another.

I AM *****NOT***** SUGGESTING YOU DO THIS - DOCTORS TODAY ARE SMARTER. AND SO ARE WE.

I AM ALSO  *****NOT***** SUGGESTING YOU GET STEROID-LEVELS OF TRT (SUPRAPHYSIOLOGIC) DOSES.

THAT'S DANGEROUS!

1. I STAYED WITHIN HIGH NORMAL  *FREE T* BOUNDS
2. ALWAYS MONITORED BY DOCTOR, PREFERABLY AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST
3. CAREFUL OF LOSING SPERM. I MIGHT HAVE. BUT I HAVE KIDS ALREADY. CHECK OUT YOUR FAMILY PLANNING OPTIONS WITH YOUR DOCTOR.

Thanks for the info guys  :)

I think my next course of action will be to order my own total and free T blood levels, and see where they fall, and if they are clearly too low, then probably hit up a DO or naturopath.
