Title: Idiopathic Cystitis
Post by: yesyesyes on March 21, 2022, 09:38:51 AM
There's this dis-ease in cats called "feline idiopathic cystitis".
Could some similar process happen to people with POIS:

My other theory is a tear somewhere in the urethra might cause sexual fluids to get into the circular system/blood and maybe that causes the immune system to overreact to them even after said tears are healed? TMI but I passed blood the first time I did the deed as I tried too hard... :'(

This information is very interesting. I read some articles on this topic and there is a lot that is similar to what we went through.
The problem is that the main goal of treatment is stress reduction, which makes treatment in humans a bit subjective.
Some medications I've seen in the articles I've read are:
Antihistamines = mast cell reduction
Prazosin = Local vasodilator
Antidepressants = decreased stress and pain sensitivity
Anxiolytics = sadative, soothing
Painkillers
All medications already discussed here on the forum.
