Title: Urticaria (hives)
Post by: Vandemolen on December 23, 2018, 10:26:58 PM
I think I have cholinergic Urticaria. In my case there are 3 things that caused it:

1. Antibiotics. In my case cefuroxim. I had to take it for 3 weeks. In the last week the hives came up.
2. POIS. On day 1 of POIS I feel itchy.
3. Fluconazol. Because I have a white tongue and acne I thought I have candida. That is why I took fluconazol. A few days ago I took 2 pills on 1 day. Normally I have to take 1 pill a day. I was testing the double dose for 1 day and see what happens. And if it would help I had asked my doctor if it is ok to raise the dose. But the day after I get sick after taking a hot shower. I felt ithcy. Even my tongue became more white.

A year ago I had this too. It went away after a few weeks.

I will stop with Fluconazol and hope I will get better.

I have hives from since my POIs started in 2000. But I just did not know that it is hives. In another topic I described it as how you feel the wind when someone passes you. Before the hives went away after a few days. But now I have this for 2 months. Even I was not sexual active in this period.

I know that there are a lot of forms of POIS. But maybe when someone says he is in malaise they mean he has hives. Because because of the hives everything hurts and irritates.

One of the worst POIS symptoms is when someone passes you or walks past you while you are sitting at your desk. I can feel the wind that is caused by that. In my neck and face. When I am not in POIS I don’t have that feeling. Someone else who has this problem? At work I turn around when a collegue walks pasg me so I don’t feel it in my neck. I think it’s because the skin is dry and sebaceous glands work too hard so my skin becomes fat on the outside.

The funny thing is that I also have this problem when I have candida.

Ok but that is a disease that only children get. Beside that I do not have or had the other symptoms of MCAD.

MCAD = Mast Cell Activation Disease. I didn't mean Medium-chain acyl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase deficiency.

I do not have a lot symptoms of MCAD. Only urticaria. My tryptase was in the good range. However I will tell my POIS doctor if he can look at MCAD.

I asked my doctor for prednisone. My doctor said prednisone would demolish my urticaria in a few days. But the problem is that about a few months the urticaria will come back and much worse. So I am trying two types of anti histamine.

I used to think that in POIS I have malaise (flu like symptoms). But I think it is a temporary urticaria. I also had 2 or 3 days of urticaria after using antibiotics for a few weeks. Now I have urticaria for almost 5 months. And that feels like POIS. Anti histamine did not help me against urticaria. I already used 5 types of anti histamine. I am not saying that POIS=urticaria. But I think urticaria is 1 of the symptoms of POIS, at least in my case. And pain in muscles and joints is part of urticaria.

Used in chronic hives: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciclosporin

Yes Ciclosporin was the second to be used medicine of 3 if I have urticaria. But now I am not sure it is urticaria.
