Since we seem to have a worldwide membership, interested in the result. I am not. Doctors thought I had hemophilia at birth.

Voted. I am circumcised. I've sometimes wondered if circumcision has any effect on overall sensitivity or if the way I tug on the skin during masturbation without lubrication could have damaged something over time, but I doubt it has much relation to the cause of POIS.

Perhaps circumcised people are more constantly stimulated because there's no garage for the car.

I'm scheduled to have a medical circumcision around the end of September.
My foreskin is too tight, and I've developed Zoon's Balanitis, a chronic inflammation on the base of the glans and the inside of the foreskin.

Actually that is questionable, after circumcison glans develops layer of a dead dead skin, and since it is not naturally moistured anymore it becames more dull feeling wise, also brain shuts off a lot of similation responses not to be constantly triggered.
We in Europe do not do it, unless in rare medical conditions or if person happens to be Muslim for example, Albanians for example have a big Muslim population.
I know a guy who converted to Islam later in life when he married Muslim woman, and I asked him if he noticed any change. He said that orgasm is weaker a lot and that sex feels more like wearing a think condom.
So to answer your question, maybe there is more constant stimulation, maybe not, but even if so,
person probably gets used, and it?s not as much as if intact guy walks uncovered Actually being uncovered all the time would be hell, not just it would feel too sensitive and uncomfortable, and if you happen to have a Pois it would be risky too lol

Was your foreskin already too tight before POIS? A few years after the beginning of my POIS I have had episodic tightening of the foreskin and mild zoon balanitis (as well as tearing of the frenulum), but obviously linked to POIS triggers. I still have it sometimes. I wonder if circumcision would suffice to end your problems, if they're also linked to POIS.

This worries me. But I've had Zoon's for ages now, and I need to get rid of the inflammation as it's a cancer risk factor, plus it's uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I'm hoping that getting rid of the constant inflammation might actually increase the sensitivity a bit, which is not unheard of AFAIK. The sensitivity around the glans is pretty low at the moment.

My foreskin has always been tight. The inflammation seems slightly correlated with POIS in that it's slightly worse when I have a symptom episode, but it's definitely always there. Managed to reduce it a lot one time with corticosteroid cream, but it came back in full force after the next orgasm. Most likely the inflammation wasn't actually gone at any point, according to my urologist.
It feels a little weird to go ahead with an irreversible procedure for something that's somewhat connected to POIS episodes. However I'm going ahead for three reasons:
* My foreskin has always been too tight (since puberty I think), and according to my urologist, even if I got the inflammation down, it's likely to stay that way because chronic inflammation of the foreskin creates permanent scar tissue that also tightens it.
* I've no idea when or if my POIS will be improved or cured
* It seems conceivable that getting rid of the Zoon's Balanitis inflammation might in itself improve my POIS. Maybe stoking the inflammation of the glans and foreskin, via sexual activity, contributes to the various other inflammation symptoms I'm seeing elsewhere in my body?

I recently saw a documentary called 'American Circumcism' that talks about how the USA has for many years defaulted to circumcism for infants. I never knew what all this entailed and the true pros and cons of the process. Well, one thing occurred to me--with the loss of so many nerve endings and the alteration of how the genitals work, could this be a root cause of POIS?
I would love to hear some theories and/or read some research on this if you can find it. Otherwise, we may end up having to research this ourselves.

Yep! The first thing I was thinking is that we need to survey how many of us have been circumcised vs not and see if the data points to anything.

This link that you've found between your penile inflammation and POIS is interesting. Have you tried any of the methods to manage your POIS and found anything that worked? Have you completed the surgery and had any changes? I'm very interested to know.

My own experience is that I didn't even know what circumcism was until maybe 10-15 years ago. I did have pain with erections when I was younger where it felt like penile shaft skin was being pulled so tight that it was unusual, but I did not know why until I put two and two together (I believe I would have had 0.5-1" more length without being circumcised). I didn't think much about these facts until I saw the documentary recently that really dives into what is lost during the procedure and how it alters the genital function. And it is interesting to hear Clues' experience on how there may be a link between penile issues and POIS.
By the results of the poll, it doesn't seem there is a direct cause and effect of circumcism causing POIS, but there does seem to be some sort of link between the genital functioning and POIS, which might lead us to understand the root cause.
