I just wanted to see what you all think about this possibility. I had found some links and posted them up on the naked scientists website, but will go fetch for them now. I am almost certain that my POIS is probably this. But I am almost totally not certain what the allergen (as connected to my orgasm) specifically is.

I read this articles and them make me sure about the allergy theory. I had two big doubts about that but this articles gives me good answers.
My first doubt is because my POIS change my sexual behavior. For me, this must be a hormonal problem ,but all my exams are normal. This text explain that when a person have a allergy for some food, this person become comupulsive about it. I think this is the reason about my sex compulsive. It?s curious because I have a big problem with coffee because of POIS and I'm compulsive too about it, but, before POIS, I didn't like coffee.
The other doubt is that, different of the most of yours, my POIS never ends. Although when I have one O I get worse, it?s not certain that, if I?m in abstinence my symptoms will improve. They improve at the begining (3-4-5 days) but after, sometimes, they get worse. I though that this must be a contradiction with the allergy theory, but this articles explain that, when in abstinence of the allergic foods, some of them show the same alergic symptoms.
Now I?m sure about the allergy theory.
PS: I?m in bad POIS today so I?m sorry for my bad english...

POIS is insidious. Until I started niacin, I hadn’t realized how strong my cognitive symptoms were. I thought I had primarily physical symptoms. Yes, you know you have brain fog, and you feel like hell, the cognitive symptoms seem to amplify your physical ones… But with niacin, most of the cognitive lifted and NOW I was able to “see”.
In POIS it’s difficult to objectively evaluate how you feel, and difficult to express it. When you are out of POIS you can’t remember enough detail to really do the description justice.
With niacin, I realize that I still have near the same physical effects that I had before, just that they don’t feel anywhere near as bad. Around the peak of POIS, the cognitive symptoms amplify the other symptoms, so that when the cognitive symptoms recede, things don’t seem so bad, but you still have symptoms.
I’m almost constantly with physical symptoms, but they die down significantly after about 7 days.
Part of what I’m saying is that our judgment pertaining to what POIS is and what it isn’t is altered. We “feel” that it can’t be allergy, or we “feel” that it has to be allergy or we “feel” that it’s hormonal….. But we can’t know by what we feel. It’s distorted.
We are all going to question it here, because we think we can. But we can’t. Believe me I know how you feel. So far I’ve been sure about 3 or 4 theories, absolutely sure!
Research, is our only hope.
Even being as close as we are, there’s just so much to do.

And what Daveman?
I'm sure about the allergy theory now and I never be sure about others. If you not, ok, but do't try to decrease my opinion.
There is one research and it is showing that is a allergy problem. No other theory explain the success with the dessinbilization.
I understand that you have doubts, but I don?t undestand you to disrespect my opinion...
PS: Other theorys can?t explain why I have a reaction when I'm evacuating and some ejaculation go out without any orgasm. This show the problem is alergic and, this articles, finish with the last doubts I have about it.

Fidalgo, my POIS theories have changed so much these last 5 years, watching 15,000 posts whiz by. I am now dizzy and confused!:)
My strong feelings have changed many times. Like Daveman, I am hopeful that we can ALL one day have more RESEARCH-based feelings about POIS, rather than the wildly unpredictable "certainties" about POIS that we all feel from time to time.
Fidalgo, many thanks again for all your excellent contributions to this forum!

Exactly right Demo. As you remember I was one of the most fanatic supporters of allergy theory on the forum!!
Sigh!
One day we'll know.

I understand that we have had many theories in the past, but this theory I am more sure of than any of the others. First off this theory has been around for a while. An "allergy". But never did I really understand the brain symptoms associated with allergies. The research on brain allergies gives me what I needed to know.
Plus the reason for the Niacin being helpful as having to do with histamine. And the reason for claritin being affective on pretty much eliminating my POIS if I take it pre-orgasm.
This may be a plausible theory in some POIS's, especially if you have felt relief like I have felt when either taking claritin or niacin pre-orgasm.

Hi All,
POIS may be an allergy, or it may be autoimmune, or it may be some type of inflammatory reaction caused by a hormone imbalance.
NO BODY KNOWS YET!!!
That's the one truth that can't be challenged.
Niacin works wonders for some -- but no one knows why. It could be discussed for the next 50 years, and still, no one would know what POIS actually is and how to diagnose and treat it.
It has got to be one of the most frustrating things ever!
Just PLEASE don't take offense if someone challenges another's ideas. Challenge is GOOD!
Scientific research -- the type that gets down to the molecular level -- is desperately needed. It's really the only way to figure this all out.
Your input is crucial, so keep writing. But please -- don't take offense if someone differs with you or challenges you. As an outsider looking in, I can see what's happening very clearly. One thinks he's finally go the answer, only to be challenged by someone else.
Consider yourselves brothers -- you are there for each other. You've got to have each other's backs!

But not without research, as your signature rightly indicates, Daveman!!

Since 2002??? A whole decade??
I was working with Visiting Nurse Association back then, going into peoples' homes and praying that I'd come out alive!!!! That was the ultimate challenge for me as a nurse!
Thank you, Demo -- those are very kind words.

2002. That was the first HINT of POIS medical sophistication with the Netherlands study.
Then Stefanie Putkowski and NORD came along and ratcheted up our medical sophistication - and effectiveness - 850%!

There is a book on brain allergies that we should look into:

Thanks must read it. More and more people are experiencing for themselves that nutrients such as b vitamins and specific amino acids can improve brain function, reduce the effects of ageing and, in some cases, reverse the effects of serious neurological illness. It's a shame that many in the medical profession are so negative and dismissive when allergies and nutritional imbalances are suggested as the cause for illnesses.

Wow cool book, and more cool books when you look at what others bought in addition to it. One reviewer mentions a lab that does thorough testing here in the states, I'm going to ask my doctor about it as my insurance could cover it.
