I've seen many write-ups of POIS symptoms, but have not seen two which I suffer from. If somebody has some perspective on whether these are normal or not, and if not, what they could possibly be if they are not POIS, I would be very appreciative.
1. Post-ejaculation, my penis may become sore for days afterwards, and is sometimes reddish. I hesitate to mention the color because I don't know if slight discoloration is the norm for all male penises. The soreness can be at the tip but is mostly at the shaft. It feels sort of like a pressure being exerted on my shaft--a sensation which is not unlike a prolonged urge to urinate.
2. Even pre-ejaculation, I experience milder POIS symptoms (brain fog, memory loss, increased irritability and mood swings, decreased motor control, slight pain around my penis shaft, etc.) from masturbation. Depending on how close I get to climax, the symptoms will last between 24 hours to 3 days. If I end up ejaculating (by mistake, really), I experience increased symptoms for 5-8 days.
(3) More of a caveat, but nocturnal emission usually does not exhibit symptoms nearly as strong as ejaculation while conscious. My penis will become slightly sore, and I'm liable to experience generalized mild symptoms for 24-48 hours. This may be because I often instinctively stop ejaculation upon waking up.
Just to be clear, these are only the two symptoms which I do not find to be prevalent in discourse. I also suffer from practically all or all of the symptoms listed on this archive's faq in addition to these if I ejaculate.
This is my first time posting on any forum. I have never seen a doctor nor seeked help before. I'm a middle-aged male who has had onset symptoms since puberty.

Hi GrosJean,
Yes to all, there are members who have local inflammation, there are members who experience a reduced version of POIS with Pre-Cum fluid, and many members, including myself, have less severe POIS from NE than from "waking state" ejaculations.

Even I get symptoms from the Precum and I want to fix it. But I do not know where to start experimenting. Benadryl works but I cannot take it. Cetirizine does not work for me.
I am not sure if anything even works for me. I have lost all hope in my life.

I can definetly confirm the first one. It feels like the urethra is permanently inflamed. This can often lead to a high urge to urinate even when my bladder is just 20% full.
Currently i am trying to cure this by attempting to masturbate without any/much pressure or friction on the penis and if possible longer periods of abstinence in between (currently 1-2 weeks).
So far my penis starts to feel less sore after masturbation but it is too early to tell any influence on the rest of POIS.

Thank you very much Quantum, kakaw and Rollo for your perspectives.
I see that these symptoms, though not the norm, are not unique to me. I was actually half-dreading that somebody here would say I probably have a simple UTI or something, because then my many years of painful secrecy and numerous failed attempts at happiness through companionship would ring all the more hollow, knowing that they could've been avoided.

I can get to a point with precum symptoms where I rationalize it's almost better to just ejaculate and deal with the fallout, than to have this constant weird pent-up sexual desire for the next couple of days without climaxing along with all the other psychological symptoms that go with precum. My compromise was to edge to climax, and only allow ideally 1-2 pumps of ejaculation instead of whatever the norm is (5-8 pumps?). In my case, I would still get that euphoric feeling after ejaculation, but the brain fog and psychological symptoms would be much less (worse than nocturnal emission, but better than precum symptoms), though it would still take about 5-7 days to be 100% again (the difference is I would feel 80% from day 1, even if I was still forgetting names, etc.). This is very much a stopgap and not a solution though. And nothing feels more unnatural than trying to edge to climax, only to hold back ejaculation with all of your will and self-control at 1 pump. I don't know if it can be good for your body to do that. Not to mention half the time you don't quite succeed in holding back...
Anyway, I also have 0 hope that I will be cured of this. I find myself having a very dark sense of humor to compensate. There are also many things in life I can still enjoy, I try to tell myself...

Yes, the "inflamed urethra" is pretty much exactly what I feel. I also have a higher urge to go to the bathroom. Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone in this. How do you attempt to masturbate without any pressure, if you don't mind my asking?

I am still trying to figure out when the perfect point to stop myself from orgasming is. I am trying to aim for a point where no actual sperm is released (stopping the trigger not the actual release) but all (clear) precum gets out of my system at once so i do not feel horny afterwards.
Sometimes i succed and there is no POIS but other times i get mild POIS or am still to horny to go without nocturnal emission.
When it comes to masturbation i can recommend a very slow approach, no touching to begin with and try to get horny by concentrating on it (I need porn for this part).
Then for getting towards an orgasm i mainly use very rapid but not strong at all slaps against the most sensitive parts of my bits...figure this one out for yourself...
Also vibrators are not only for women...i would give them a try.

I see. Thanks for letting me know. I try to completely abstain from the act as I'm sure a lot of people here do, but if it happens, at least I'll have something new to try out.

You might want to look into black seed oil post orgasm as well as luteolin as they both have antiinflammatory effects. Do you have Peyronnies, curved penis, especially when erect? Bubbly urine?
