Very subjective and unscientific poll, but whatever. I also get the impression that when the POIS reaction tones down, the clean up process is still active and lags behind the reaction.

Feels like my body is immediately reacting to something physiologically.

My answer is probably biased by my POIS hypothesis which is that it's basically an autoimmune response, where your body is attacking some kind of fluid/chemical in the body that is released when you ejaculate.
