I was wondering if anyone has undergone a cleansing for Candida? It seems to me that we may be suffering from some form of Candida. Sometimes Candida can last for years if not treated. Some don't even know they have it. While many of our POIS symptoms are similar, they vary on intensity and are not all the same. For me I get sore in my legs and prostate. Also my breathing patterns change and I feel like bleh. Possible increase in histamines. Some, if not all of my symptoms could match up for Candida/Prostatis. Also I have read of people on this forum who have gotten significantly better in both physical and mental clarity from eating foods that have Candida starving effects. These foods that they have given up include: all foods of processed sugar, wheat, alcohol, cheeses, caffeine, and certain types of rice. I am wondering if anyone has any diet guidelines for POIS? Or if they have cured their POIS from starving their Candida?

Also to note: Candida is sometimes known as the drunken illness. I wonder why? Does anyone else get more of a white tongue during their POIS phase? Lastly, some people have begin to notice changes after changing their diet to one that cuts foods that feed Candida, these foods include, whole grains, dairy, processed foods with sugars, alcohol, etc. One of the members here, Going Less Crazy claims that his new diet helped him recover from POIS significantly. www.mycandidacleanse.com/could-pois-post-orgasmic-illness-syndrome-be-candida/

Hi Liyyamurr,
Yes, many POISers have reported improvement when turning to a healthier diet.
But the link to Candida that you mention is not clear, though.
For diet recommendations, you can type "diet" in the search box in the upper left of the home page and you will find many threads about this.
In my case, I have described the basics of my own healthy diet at http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2090.msg16604#msg16604 , in the "healthy diet" section.
I hope this will be of help!

Hi again, Liyyamurr,
I have found this thread that talked about yeast infection vs POIS, so you may find it interesting:
http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=707.msg6947#msg6947
Another POIS sufferer talked about candida infection as a possible trigger for his POIS: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=1406.msg12980#msg12980
What I see in this - and this is only my personal opinion, here - is that a candida infection, like any other chronic infection, including Lyme disease that has also been discussed on the forum, can contribute to overall "level" of inflammation in the body, and ejaculation will only make it worst, by what I believe is a systemic inflammation reaction triggered by a still unknown antigen in prostate fluid or seminal gland fluid. Eliminating a chronic infection problem will for sure shorten POIS duration and make symptoms less severe, but I do not think this will eliminate POIS completely. If this link was simple and direct between POIS and infection with Candida or else, there would be far more POIS case, because candida infections are not rare at all. POIS is very rare, so there have to be another "local" and rare cause for POIS to occur.

So it turns out that I have a skin candida; the color shifting one. And I'm working on treating it. This candida was present way back in my teenage years, but I remember that POIS happened first. I'm not sure. We'll see if getting rid of this Candida can help at all.

I also thought I had candida. I had a white tongue and acne on my arms. Taking Fluconazol for a month did not help. My tongue is even more white now. Now I know that that is because of my weakened immune system (checked in blood). And that is maybe because of sleeping problems. Since 6 months I sleep 1 to 4 hours a day. But everybody is different. So when they found candida treat it well and get rid of it. All improvements in your general health can make your POIS symptoms less worse.
