Hi everyone,
I've been following these forums for a while and have gained an inexpressibly vast amount of relief through the advice and knowledge that I'm not the only guy out there with this baffling situation!!
Interestingly it took me over a year or so before I stumbled upon any of these forums because my Google searches would always be attenuated along the lines of 'ejaculation emotions' or something of that nature. The only effects I experience from ejaculation are those on intense emotions that are quite distinct from any other emotions. They are most similar to the feeling of sadness and easily turn into depression if combined with neurotic thought. My symptoms last for the average duration but don't have any of the other symptoms. I am helped a lot by fenugreek, relora, increased protein, and deep yogic breathing.
I thought perhaps I missed something in other people's posts that have described a similar situation.
Do you think this is POIS and have other people written of such exclusively emotional symptoms?
Thank you!!

There is a significant percent that have predominantly cognitive/depressive symptoms. Some of those may even exclusively have such symptoms.
There is a neurotransmitter imbalance that upsets the feel good/normal neurotransmitters, enough to change our personalities. I know that when I have POIS, and even know it, I imagine all sorts of other things, and the mix of feelings always seems more related to lack of capability and failure rather than "just" POIS.
I am always amazed, when the fog clears, how we, our personalities are so governed by just a few chemicals. We with our personalities feel so special, individual, but when you see how grossly it can be effected by a change in proportion of chemicals, you see how your personality is nothing more than a chemical cocktail.
So wherein not all of us are exclusively effected emotionally, we ALL are to some extent, and I think we are all effected more than we know. When we are "under", we sometimes don't consciously see the contrast. We know we are in POIS, but we are not clear enough to see how much, or what the distribution is between physical and emotional. (Although it's clear we feel like sh... )

Hi , Relaxeverything,
I know this thread is about 3 years old, but I have not yet found this forum at that time. I find it very interesting that you have no cognitive symptoms and have very severe emotional symptoms, like me. If you ever pass by, it would be very interesting to compare notes....
I also practice meditation for years, and it helps me very much with emotional stability.
When I first found the forum, I saw that emotional symptoms were a bit overshadowed by cognitive symptoms, and they were even "fused" in the category of "cognitive symptoms". Dr Waldinger still have a tendency to include symptoms like anxiety, depression, or irritability in "cognitive" symptoms, which is not appropriate, from my point of view. That is why I have proposed a regrouping of POIS symptoms in clusters different form those of Dr Waldinger ( see these at http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2027.msg15927#msg15927 ), which include a cluster of emotional symptoms, apart from cognitive one. I have even found a possible explanation for a common cause of these two cluster, form the production of too much kynurenine in the body, leading to different toxic metabolites, depending of your genetics, some of them creating cognitive symptoms ( like kynuretic acid), and some others causing emotional symptoms ( like quinolinic acid). You and I, for an unknown reason, are not affected by the first kind, but a lot by the second, emotional type.
I hope you still have control over your POIS symptoms :-)

i havent told anyone. but yes... i do have my emotional base erased along with the cognition loss.... its like you prep urself for a romantic evening with a possible new girlfriend, then blammo, a completely erased emotional state descends. cant the love, cant find happiness, cant find familiar emotions..... alll gone man.
i would say its similar to smokin PCP or something.... im very uncomfortable with the emotional base cut off like it never existed. Passionate people should never have their humanity broken like that. But here we are, still breathing after the latest suicude attempt, still holding on to the next whisper of a cure....

I understand.
