Uncontrollable Laughter relieves pois symptoms
« on: August 14, 2018, 04:44:53 PM »
When I was in Mexico early this year and had POIS symptoms I found that when my friend made me laugh uncontrollably for maybe 30 seconds straight or something, I would go from not being able to string any sentences together and not being able to engage in a proper conversation, to being able to articulate normally and have a normal conversation with him. I'd say my cognitive symptoms would improve by 80%, although I would still feel the same pressure around the temples. I wouldthink my symptoms came back after 1 hour or something.

It must be due to the endorphins released when laughing or something, maybe one of you have a better hypothesis. I did do a search on here about this and I found someone who said when they had sex in the sea he would laugh uncontrollably afterwards every time and have no symptoms. He thought it was because of the salty water that he had no pois symptoms but I think its actually because of his uncontrollable laughter.

Interesting. I noticed that my POIS symptoms are reduced when I am in social situations for more than a few hours (I live by myself, and work behind a computer, so social situations are the exception rather than the rule, unfortunately, though I am seeing someone atm).

I also noticed that relaxing the cranium and jaw (during a 15-minute meditation-like session) often allows me to reach a kind of euphoric state, which also resolves a lot of POIS-related problems.

Perhaps this is related to the effect of laughter you mentioned.
Male, INTJ. POIS symptoms: red eyes, ear-pain, anxiety, speech problems, pale/ugly skin, stiff neck, double chin, tinnitus, light sensitivity. POIS even after stimulation without O.

Nanna hypothesized that POIS originates from an infection of the Trigeminal Nerve, which supplies the jaw, and IIRC some POISers got relief from chewing gum. Perhaps that's all related?

Well, i remeber in times when i did suscesfuly fight pois and non pois  brain fogg tirednes stiffnes etc... by AUTOSUGESTION from watching videos that i founf funny to me , the most funnyest to make me laugh.
I read somewhere on the net, that one man is been susscessfull to heal  his cacer from his body whit laughing from his heart on perpes.
Body is 100% hawe ability to heal it self, why ours is stucked and so hard to heal i do not know.

I like socialising but for severe poisers who hawe brain fog and tirednes is wery dificult to socialise and make a fun because it simply cant, the more you try the more you get sick and no energy.

Hi,
So I wanna chime in and say that one of my major symptoms is a numbness of my lower face, not quite the jaw but definately the lower muscles surrounding it. I feel the symptoms onset no more than 30min post O. I constantly chew gum on my post O days because it gives me 100 percent relief from that lower face stiffness/numbness. This symptom subsides as POIS takes it's course over a couple days. Downside to chewing gum all the time is i bite cheek or tongue occasionally LOL. Also I did notice that my POIS symptoms are almost 100% relieved after a meal for about a solid 30minuites, then its back to suffrage. So In my case I hypothesized chewing gum was simulating eating to an affect and that's why it gave me relief. I'm guessing eating food is instant Dopamine or maybe something else, Dopamine supplements Like L-Dopa have had no noticeable effects on me. Lately Ive found 5 HTP to be giving me some real results.
Anyway Just wanted to share in case someone else finds a similarity in my case.
Thanks!
